The late Earnest Baggett opened Baggett's Jewelry in downtown Clinton in 1948. Now his son, Bill Baggett is owner who overlooks all store operations, especially taking care of his customers. "That's how I was brought up in the business" Bill States. Our customers are the most valuable asset we have, if not for them we would not be in business. He remembers when working for his parents, Sara & Earnest, there were always a full file of repaired jewelry and watch repairs that customers had trusted Baggett’s to do.
Today Baggett's is one of the oldest family owned business operating in Sampson County. In 1999 the store relocated to Sampson Crossing/Wal-Mart Shopping Center and obtains the areas largest selection of quality jewelry from engagement rings to unique jewelry designs.Services include on-site jewelry repair, engraving, watch repair, and appraisals from owner Bill Baggett, GIA certified in diamond grading. Bill added Chris Boyette to his staff as bench jeweler to assist with jewelry repairs and sales. Chris brings 10 years of experience in jewelry repair & diamond setting skills. With Chris, our repair business has increased with quicker turnaround time.
Baggett credits his mom, Sara Baggett with their growing customer base and financial strength thru the years. She taught me values about managing my money, Baggett states. The vision my mom had of how the retail market in Clinton would improve when Sampson Crossing/Walmart came was very valuable in making our decision to move here.
Over the past 3 years with gold prices soaring up to 1,900.00 per ounce, customers have trusted Baggett's to purchase their unwanted gold and diamonds. We try to offer our customers the most in the area for their gold, Baggett states. Bill Baggett personally attends trade shows and the annual NC Jewelers Association convention to keep us with current marketing strategies, education, and laws governing the jewelry business. He has served two terms as board member for the association. We continue to do all avenues of advertising but the best is customers referrals. We also depend on the Sampson Independent for advertising, they always do a great job designing our adds that get results.
I am very optimistic about the jewelry business in the future Baggett adds. It's a great feeling to be a part of engagements and all celebrations with jewelry purchased from our store.
